Snoop Dogg Vs Tinseltown in support of the SAG-AFTRA and Writers Guild strikes.
Snoop’s Support And Solidarity
Snoop Dogg appears to be making a statement towards Tinseltown in support of the SAG-AFTRA and Writers Guild strikes. He cancelled two of his big shows to stand in solidarity with the union members. In a statement made on Tuesday, the rapper conveyed his regret in canceling the Hollywood Bowl show and proclaimed his support for his fellow union members.
Snoop expresses hope that the AMPTP will return to the negotiating table with a real proposal so everyone can get back to work.
Snoop Cancels L.A. Concerts
While Snoop has other gigs planned nationwide, he has decided to cancel his big L.A. concerts symbolically. Musicians may not be affected directly by the SAG/WGA strikes, but Snoop has recently shown his support for modern-day artists who are being unfairly compensated in the streaming age.
The Same Struggles
He also acknowledged that showbiz writers and actors are fighting over the same stuff in their strikes. Snoop is aware of the struggle and is most certainly in SAG/WGA’s corner in the ongoing negotiations, and it’s worth noting that his Death Row guys are on board as well, with a handful of Death Row artists and affiliates seen on the picket lines themselves.
The Impact
It remains to be seen if Snoop’s move will set a precedent in the industry- given his impact and notoriety, one cannot help but wonder if other artists will start following suit in their support of the union.
